2025Sep14 - A Longer Practice
Props today: a ball to roll out feet, rectangular folded blanket, and a bolster.
Today, the students joining me were 2s and 3s out of 5, and there were requests to roll out our feet, for neck and shoulders. For this practice, I wanted to include focus on quads/hip flexors, as well as opening side body.
We started in standing position with simple movements and breath awareness before rolling out our feet. We then moved to our back to explore breathing, rest, and receiving support from the earth. We moved on to explore "foot presses" and variations to wake up the spine, abs, leg muscles, and psoas. After some lunging exploration we moved some belly down options before revisiting poses on our backs.
After some seated hips opening (building to pigeon) , we explored more shoulder opening before using the bolster to open side body further. Practice today ends with a supported fish over a bolster with two chambers breathing. Enjoy!
