Tonight, the students joining me live were mostly 1s, 2s, and a 3 out of 5 energy level. There was a request for pigeon pose.
Before practice, I discussed a little bit about the Maha Mrityunjaya mantra, about how at the end of our last exhale, we let go of this body. I invited the students to practice the ends of the exhale tonight as practice for the final moment of life when we will actually let go of this body, completely unstiffening all the muscles into non-engagement.
Most of the practice was on our backs, moving through very slow twisting movements, feeling into our bodies for muscle unstiffening, a “letting go.” ¾ into the practice we move to table position for simple warmups prepping pigeon pose, and then we do pigeon on our back (figure-four pose), and then an option to repeat figure-4, or do traditional pigeon facing the floor.
Practice ends with a meditation on the OM cycle, beginnings, middles, and endings, all happening simultaneously. Enjoy!
